Aspire 5920G Grafikkarte bzw. GPU aufrüsten > ATI HD 4650 kompatibel?

Hallo an Alle

Ich schaue schon lange Zeit bei diesem englischen Thread mit: My 5920g...WITH A HD 4650!!! (need help) und ich bin jetzt auch schon am überlegen, ob ich mir eine HD 4650 in mein 5920G baue. Die Seite für die Graka hätte ich auch schon gefunden: Acer Aspire 6930G Ersatzteile - Acer Notebook Ersatzteil Shop (VG.M9606.006 & VG.M9606.005). Nur weiß ich jetzt nicht was da der Unterschied zwischen den beiden ist. Denn beide haben die gleiche Beschreibung, sprich "M96 1GB DDR2 500MHz", doch ist der Preis bei den beiden Versionen unterschiedlich (.005 - 167€, .006 - 112€).

Jetzt meine Frage: Hat da vielleicht jemand eine Idee was der Unterschied sein könnte?
Und falls schon jemand diese Grafikkarte bei ihm eingebaut hat: Funktioniert der HDMI-Output wie gewöhnlich? Oder müsste der funktionieren? - Da es das 5920G ja auch mit ATI 3650 gibt und die MXM II ist und die HD 4650 ja auch und die Anschlussbelegung ja gleich sein sollte.

Ist das eine vielleicht eine DDR3-RAM-Karte, die andere DDR2?
Ist das vielleicht der Unterschied?

Ich denke ja nicht dass die eine eine DDR2 und die andere eine DDR3 Karte ist, da ja die Beschreibung exakt gleich ist und es die DDR3 Version ja nur mit 512MB gibt.

Nobody wants to tell the difference. I guess that more expensive model comes with heatsync. If you are upgrading, you will need heatsync too, to follow IC placement on new board:confused:

BozidaR hat vielleicht Recht und die Teurere Karte hat ne Heatpipe,
steht zwar nicht dabei aber das würde den Preisunterschied erklären:rolleyes:
Aber mal was anderes meinst Du die wird gesteckt:confused:Ich glaube nicht,
die muß bestimmt reingelötet werden:eek:

Deine Links waren ja ok, ich bekam sie netzwerktechnisch nicht auf, da ich mit einer
lahmen, ständig gestörten Mobilfunk-Verbindung online war.

Die zweite Frage kann ich dir mit Sicherheit beantworte: Die HD 4650 ist eine MXM Karte mit Formfaktor MXMII. Ich hab ja meinen auch schon auseinander geschraubt und man sieht auch genau, dass die Karten in den Acers nur gesteckt sind, da meine jetzige, die 9500M GS ja auch MXMII hat.

@BozidaR: Maybe you're right, but if I upgrade my 5920G with a graphics card for the 6930G, I wouldn't need a heatsink, because the heatsink wouldn't be the same as my heatsink for the 5920G.

Und noch eine Frage: HDMI müsste ja mit der HD4650 funktionieren, oder?
Ich denk mir hald, dass die MXM-Anschlussbelegung gleich sein sollte und die Typen von ATI ja wohl nicht so sehr viel von der 3650 (die es neben der 8600M GT auch im 5920G gibt) zur 4650 ändern würden.

I would not need a heatsink, because the heatsink would not be the same as my heatsink for the 5920.
Zum Vergrößern anklicken....
I have an 7520g, g-force 8400m g, and want to upgrade it to 4650. 3650 upgrade for my notebook is OK, so, I don't expect compatibility problems. But, mechanical side is unknown to me. If positions of GPU and (V)RAM chips are included in MXM standard, we don't need new heatsink. Otherwise, one has to do something, either to modify existing heatsink so that all ICs that require cooling are covered, or buy a heatsink for new graphic card and integrate it with existing one in a suitable way.
Bottom line: we don't know if price difference is related to heatsink, it's presumption ( and, presumption is mother of screw-up :p). And, I'm steel confused which one to buy.

I'm a bit lost in Google translations, but hope that point is clear enough ;(

@ BozidaR: I'm not sure if your 7520G is able to handle a HD4650, because there's a thread with the acer notebook models and the graphics cards: Acer MXM Models and Cards.
And another question: Do you know if your 7520G has a MXMII or a MXMI graphics card slot? Because the HD4650 has a MXMII slot.

And this price problem is also very confusing because here's a website where they list the cheaper HD4650 (VG.M9606.006) with 9,487.52€ ... absolutelly nonsense xD.

And concerning the memory-cooling system: The memory size and placement of the HD4650 is similar to my 9500M GS, so I can use the thermal pads to match between the memory and the heatsink. But there's a little Problem with the GPU: Because of the 55nm procedure the core of the HD4650 is a little bit thinner than the core of the 9500M GS. This means I have to do a copper mod (about 0,9 mm thick) to ensure correct heat transfer.

My present card is MXM I one, but card slot should be MXM II, because some 7520g variants come with MXM II cards. Also, 3650 is listed as an upgrade, and it is MXM II. Finally, I asked on another forum, one you mentioned, and was told that 4650 will probably do well on my laptop.
About funny price, can tell all 3 prices on this page were the same stupid $$$. After my email, they changed 2 of 3 of them, If you send them en email, too, they might correct third one, too. Anyway, I think they are a bit expensive, there are cheaper offers.

@ BozidaR: Which company did you send the e-mail to? acer-ersatzteile.de or zandparts.com?
And please tell me the e-mail adress.
I also asked in another forum, which part number they took for upgrading their 5920Gs.
But one thing is sure: The VG.M9606.004 isn't the correct card for our laptops, because it is MXMIII or MXMA or what ever ...

And there's still this question with the HDMI. ^^
But I think it should work. What do you think?

Agree about VG.M9606.004, it's another story.

And I'm still waiting for the answer if the HDMI-Output is working correctly.

Hallo an Alle

Ich habe heute meine ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 eingebaut und es funktioniert bis jetzt alles bestens. Ich habe auch mit Furmark einen Stabilitätstest gemacht. Und das Resultat sind eine Spitzentemperatur der Graka von 93°C.
Ich werde auch noch die Grafikkarte untervolten.
Außerdem werde ich auch noch ein Tutorial schreiben und hier hochladen.

hätte aber trotzdem noch ne frage, was das flashen angeht. Weiß jemand was das hier zu bedeuten hat? "Use SCLK to flash BIOS on RV730 only (SCLK will be scaled down while flashing the BIOS)"? Weil die HD4650 hat eben eine RV730 GPU und ich habe vor sie mit ATIFlash zu flashen.

Mit den Standard Taktraten und Nonundervolted habe ich 5487 Punkte in 3DMark06. Crysis kann ich übrigends im DX10 Modus in der Auflösung 1280x800 auf alles Mittel mit 25-30fps spielen. Also ein echter Erfolg gegenüber meiner 9500M GS.

also generell ist vom Graka Bios Flash abzuraten.

in der neuen ATIFLASH ist halt nur der RV730 mit Supported wie dort auch steht.
Ist auf deiner 4650 ein älteres Graka Bios drauf, gibts was neueres u. wenn ja was hat das neue Bios für bessere Features ?

Wenn sie sauber läuft, erfreue Dich daran bevor Du das Bios zerflashst u. die in die grütze geht. ;)

Ich möchte sie gern untervolten (wie auch in einem Tutorial beschrieben).
Da beim ATIFlash irritiert mich nur das mit SCLK. Und ich habe eben keine Ahnung was das bedeuten soll. Denn aus dem Internet wird man auch nicht schlauer wenn man danach sucht.
