Aspire V3-772G Compuer will not boot after updating bios - EFI\microsoft\boot\bcd

Hello all!!

Sorry to write in English in a German forum.

I have my Acer V3-772G for 2 years now, and I update to windows 10 about 1 month ago without problems.
Yesterday I update the Bios to the new V1.15 version. After the computer restarted to the following error.

The Boot configuration is missing or contain errors
Error code: EFI\microsoft\boot\bcd
Error code 0xc000000f

I already try the Acer repair system and nothing also I did try to repair with
  • bootrec /fixmbr
  • bootrec /fixboot
  • bootrec /scanos
  • bootrec /rebuild

By going to the CMd from the standard recovery from Acer where he did not find a windows installation (probably looking for windows 8??)

And by the CMD from a boot windows 10 usb that I did. In this one, he did found the windows but it says that the drive is not accessible. An error that seems to come either from the use of the USB or from the fact that I had to change the Bios to legacy to reach the point where he accepts the boot from the USB.

I appreciate any support as I am getting quite lost with this problem. Thanks!!

In the BIOS/UEFI, there should be an entry similar to "Use UEFI/BIOS legacy mode" or something like that somewhere. Try to change that and reboot the system. A very similar problem happened to my flatmate's V3 773G and that miracolously fixed that for whatever reason.

At simple.
Take a look to the "SMART" Valves.
After two jear´s it can be a foult HDD.
Sorry for my bad english
Most off the time, I have to read it.

For Win 10, you have to use the UEFI Mode.
Legacy for Win 7.

Simmen123 - I already change to Legacy mode, where I get another messages PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0f: Exiting Broadcom PXE Rom
No bootable Device

MC Stender- The computer was all fine before installing the new bios... immediately after it crashed like this

Hmmm.
Boot from a other medium. NOT from HDD inside.
You can use an other Windows-Computer to prepair a dvd.
Check "Repair" and CMD bootrec /rebuild .
The point, not from the HDD inside. :cool:

Just to explain the situation to you. From my perspective and I guess Stender's perspective as well, it looks like something with your HDD is not right. It's either just a wrong configuration (Legacy BIOS and you installed windows in UEFI Mode, or the other way round) or it's a Windows Installation issue, which should be resolved by using
  • bootrec /fixmbr
  • bootrec /fixboot
  • bootrec /scanos
  • bootrec /rebuild
, just like you already did, or it's a hardware issue, where your HDD is broken in some kind of way, or a filesystem issue where your data has become corrupted because of whatever. If it can't be fixed by the repair commands I'd recommend a complete fresh install of your favorite Windows version. If this doesn't help then I'd put my bet on a broken HDD.
